| Capitalism at its very finest.
C. Vivian Stringer became one of the greatest civil
and women's right leaders of all time on
April 10, 2007.
Ms. Stringer wowed the minorities. She spoke with an eloquence that the smoothest
politicians could only dream of possessing.
Stringer went right to the source of how Imus and all the other rich white
media boys and girls get away with spewing their hatred. The people who run this
fading-beauty country
of ours see us as one color, GREEN.
GREEN for money. Their bottom line profits. Let
the market work. Fine. And capitalism
finally worked for the public.
We are the corporation's source of income. We buy their products and pay big
media companies for advertising. We were so mad at Imus, the proverbial straw that broke
the camel's back, that we spoke out, demanding that
GM, Proctor and Gamble and other sponsors of Imus withdraw their advertising
dollars from the media until Imus was FIRED !!! How'd we do this? We told them we would BOYCOTT all
of their products and services. They in turn, told big media that they -the
corporations - would no longer purchase advertising .
Big media responded.
The people rose up out of their, our stupor. People across the world called and
emailed the stations and corporations.
The media had to fire him. Not because of values (we are not falling for that line
Mr. CBS President Steve Capus) but because they lost income, because the
corporate rulers told them to fire Imus.
When the corporations are threatened with losing income, they act fast. They
pretend it is a "values
thing." But it is a "bottom line" thing. This IS capitalism working at
its finest. Vivian got it right.
This was a peaceful and civil action at its very finest moment.
